Jackfruit is a unique tropical fruit that has increased in popularity in recent years.  jackfruit is fat-free and a nutritious source of vitamins C, A, and dietary fiber. In Sri Lanka it is used in many ways: as a food staple - an alternative to the main meal, rice, and as side dishes, snacks, soups, drinks, salads, and a dessert. In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, it is believed to be a “plant-insulin”, useful for non-insulin dependent diabetics and for use as an appetizer, a digestive, and an anti-inflammatory agent.
